The second round of the European Junior Championship started on Thursday in the sun at PFI.
Gabriele Mini (Parolin / Parilla) set a great time of 56”403 in the first session, almost 2 tenths faster than Alexandros Kattoulas (Exprit / TM) at the very last moment. Isack Hadjar (Exprit / TM) and Evann Mallet (Kosmic / Parilla) finished 3rd and 4th ahead of Alessandro Balzarotti (KR / Parilla), while Loris Cabirou (Energy / TM) was in 6th place followed by Dino Beganovic (Tony Kart / Vortex) ), Paul Aron (FA Kart / Vortex) finishing 10th by more than 4 tenths.
Kirill Smal (Tony Kart / Vortex) dominated the second session and was on provisional pole in 56”314 on his last lap, his fifth. Several drivers came in at the last moment behind him, starting with Alex Lloyd (Formula K / TM) by 0.263 ”, followed by 5 thousandths by Jamie Day (Energy / TM), then Raphael Chaves Camara (Kosmic / Vortex) and Sebastian Montoya (Tony Kart / Vortex). Marcus Amand (KR / Parilla) had a good 6th time ahead of Zak O’Sullivan (FA Kart / Vortex). Taylor Barnard (KR / Parilla) finished 12th, and Hadrien David (Kosmic / Vortex) 14th.
Victor Bernier (Kosmic / Parilla) and Sami Meguetounif (Formula K / TM) stood out at the top of the third session against Luca Griggs (Exprit / Vortex) and Gabriel Bortoleto (CRG / TM). Bernier improved again on his sixth lap to 56”481, but the gaps were small behind him. Dilano Van T’Hoff (Exprit / TM) took 2nd place at 31 thousandths against Meguetounif 7 thousandths later. Griggs finished 4th at 0.063 ” ahead of Bortotleto. Nikita Bedrin (Parolin / TM) gave up because of a transmission problem.
Kirill Smal (Ward Racing) retained pole position against Gabriele Mini (Parolin Racing Kart), but Victor Bernier (VDK Racing) took 3rd place overall ahead of Dilano Van T’Hoff (Forza Racing) and Meguetounif (Formula K) .
